History was made when sign-ups for the featured titles at Evo 2024 closed this past Monday, June 24. Last year, the event brought in a total of 9,221 unique competitors between the games in the main lineup, breaking multiple all-time registration records in the process. The Evo debut for Street Fighter 6, for example, set a new peak as the largest open-bracket fighting game tournament in Evo history at 7,083 entrants, alongside franchise records for Guilty Gear -Strive-, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, and MELTY BLOOD: TYPE LUMINA. Evo 2023 also broke the record for the most bracket entries between main lineup games with a total of 15,012. The record for the most unique competitors (without accounting for players entering multiple brackets) was maintained by Evo 2016, which reached a total of 9,833 entrants. This year, we are ecstatic to announce that both of these records have now been broken.

At the time of this post, there are 16,231 total bracket entries from 10,224 players who are entered in at least one of the featured games at Evo 2024. This marks the first time a video game tournament has reached over 10,000 unique competitors, setting a new all-time record, not just for Evo, but for all of esports.

In addition to these incredible milestones, Evo 2024 will see new game and franchise records set for some of its individual titles. Back in March, we announced that TEKKEN 8 had broken the franchise registration record for its Evo Las Vegas debut. Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising and this year’s Throwback Game, Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike, are also setting new records, with both titles reaching over 1,000 entrants for the first time. We will be releasing a full breakdown of registration for this year very soon, including entrant counts for each individual tournament and statistics on country representation and game crossover.

Evo 2024, presented by Chipotle, is taking place in a brand-new venue in the West Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center on July 19-21. This massive space allows us to expand the show floor to include a three-day convention experience with an Arena built right into the venue for tournament Finals. This means that all eight games on the featured lineup will have their Top 6 played on the Arena stage, and you’ll be able to enjoy three days of the convention floor as well as the Arena Finals Experience using the same event ticket.

Although player registration for the main lineup is closed, Event Badges for this year’s record-breaking Evo will be available right up to the weekend of the event, and there are still plenty of reasons to attend for every type of fighting game fan. Sign-ups for Community Showcase tournaments, including titles like Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, DNF Duel, and DRAGON BALL FighterZ (as part of the DBFZ World Tour), are open until 11:59 PM PT on June 30th. You can also participate in this year’s Cosplay Contest, play casuals and enter brackets in the BYOC area, shop at the expanded Artist Alley and Vendor Village, check out the new FGC Art Gallery and Beyond the Arcade Stick Museum, and enjoy the largest Arcade area in Evo history. Plus, you’ll have the opportunity to catch all the action at Evo 2024 in person, from publisher panels, reveals, and exhibitions in the Evo Showcase to the main lineup tournaments to Finals watch parties with creators like Maximilian Dood, RDCworld, and participants from Sajam’s TEKKEN Slam.
